Belinda Effah’s roots are firmly planted in Cross River State, where she was born and raised by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Effah. Her late father, Chief Asido Bassey Effah, served as a senior military officer and retired as a Lieutenant Commander in the Nigerian Navy. Belinda grew up in a family with several siblings, and she received her primary and secondary education at Hillside International Nursery and Primary School and the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, respectively. She continued her academic journey at the prestigious University of Calabar, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Genetics and Biotechnology.

Entry into Entertainment:

At the young age of sixteen, Belinda Effah embarked on her journey in the Nigerian entertainment industry, famously known as Nollywood. She initially stepped into the world of television shows, making her debut in the popular series “Shallow Waters” in 2005. Soon after, in 2005, she participated in the reality TV show “Next Movie Star,” where she finished fifth among the contestants. Her charisma and talent caught the attention of many, leading her to become a television presenter for Sound City, a prominent Nigerian entertainment cable station. However, her ambitions extended further, prompting her to create her own show, “Lunch Break with Belinda.”

Career and Achievements:

Effah’s career trajectory continued to soar as she diversified her skills in the entertainment industry. Beyond television, she delved into acting, making her Nollywood debut in the series “Shallow Waters” and participating in the reality show “Next Movie Star.” Her list of accomplishments includes being the CEO and founder of GCB Empire, a fashion brand situated in Nigeria. Notably, her portrait, captured by Iké Udé, was featured at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art during the Nollywood Portraits exhibition in 2022.

In her personal life, Effah became a mother in 2016, though she has kept the identity of her child’s father private. In 2021, she publicly revealed her decision to be addressed as Grace-Charis Bassey, a change inspired by a divine encounter with God that took place on August 15, 2020.
