The Nigerian Army has fire back to all citizens of the Country that the ” Operation Python Dance 2″ will continue in Sotheast today as scheduled earlier this week.
A Press release from the the Army Public Relations, Brigedier General Usman Sani, has urged Nigerians to ignore the rumours wavering round that the Nigeria army would be withdrawing from its operations in the Southeast.
The Press Release states: The Nigerian Army has been drawn to rumours going on in the media that said Nigerian Army is withdrawing its troops from the ongoing Operation tagged, Python Dance II (EGWU EKE 2) thereby crediting such false information to the government of Abia
State Governor and the General commander in charge of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army.
The Nigerian Force is calling on the general public to disregard such informations,
For clarity Purposes the Abia State Governor in its statement stated that “from Friday there will be gradual withdrawal of Nigeria troops on the streets of Abia State, using Aba and Umuahia as a primary concern.
The statement above should not be misunderstood as total withdrawing of Niger troops, which is positioned for the Operation Python Dance II. The General Commander in charge of 82 Division has not said any thing relating to that. .
Moreover, we wish to inform the general public that
the Operation EGWU EKE II is commencing on Friday as scheduled and no going back on that.
Top Authorities in the Nigeria Army had instructed all Commanding Officers to ensure that all hands are on deck to make sure that they commence the Exercise to its original purpose.
The general public has been charged to go about their lawful businesses., without any form of fear or intimidation.
Especially those residing on the affected areas.
We therefore also warn any group that wants to jeopardize our efforts, to stay clear that we will not allow any individual or group to jeopardize the conduct of the the operation through unlawful or fraudulent activities.
We also plead with Criminals and Hoodlums to remain law abiding and not stir any form of breach of peace. We therefore pledge that our troops would be of good conduct to conduct themselves in the best professional way, to abide by the Rules of Engagement in line of requirements of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
” Any act of misconduct by any of our troop would be heavily dealt with. While we charge all Nigerians to go about their lawful outings and businesses, We therefore urge all Nigerians to support the troops as they carry out their constitutional mandates and to realize the Purpose of the Operation EGWU EKE II.
